Mohsen Rezaei made the remarks in a social media post late on Saturday in reaction to recent acts of insult against the holy Quran in Denmark and Sweden.
As he stressed, Islamic countries should follow up on the prosecution of the perpetrators of the insults and boycott products of the two states to prevent the repetition of such moves.
The fact that some European countries including Denmark and Sweden allow such acts against Islamic sanctities is an indication of barbarism not freedom, Rezaei said.
The Swedish police authority has allowed Salwan Momika, a 37-year-old man of the Iraqi origin, to burn a copy of Quran and the the Iraqi flag in front of Arab country’s embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, on two occasions in recent weeks.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said late on Sunday that mere condemnation of sacrilege of holy Quran by the Swedish government is not enough, and the European government should turn over the perpetrators of the heinous act for prosecution.
